Abstract

Flutter is a project to create wearable art from fashion illustration and graphic designs. "Flutter" is premised upon the effect of realizing two dimensional designs in life will have a positive influence on students' ability to relate to themes given in exams and approach them from more angles.

Students were exposed to fashion and graphic designs by attending the N7 Cluster Art Appreciation camp at LaSalle-SIA. Ideas were gathered and divided into categories of fashion and graphics. Self reflective themes such as elegance and demure were given and students explored the themes through colors, textures and style. Graphics were created through usage of templates and painted on t-shirts. Students enhance their work through the use of their knowledge in Principles of Design. A runway was created and choreographed to bring designs to life. Students were able to design a signature aura on their designs. Audiences' feedback that they could feel and see the elegance of the model and outfit paraded. Students also learnt different ways to approach themes and packaging styles to convey meanings of their works. This is reflected in the students' progress in class when they attempt their exam papers. They are able to relate to the themes and counter from different angles. They have become more vocal in their point of view as confidence soar after exhibiting their art works.
