Program Brief

Keynotes addresses will focus on a wide range of topics including: classroom talk and interaction; life pathways and social futures of students; information technologies and new learning communities; school change, leadership and pedagogy; curricular innovation in key areas; and teaching and the new biosciences. Each keynote address will last about an hour.

In addition to plenary sessions where keynote speakers will address the whole assembly, concurrent sessions will be organised according to strands in the following format:

Paper Presentations providing opportunities for
Reporting of research findings

Addressing issues in the strand
Presenting innovative programmes or best practices
Each session will last 1.5 hour comprising 3 presentations of 20 minutes each.

Symposia featuring group presentations by a team on a specific topic within a strand. These 1.5 hour sessions can accommodate up to 4 presenters for each symposium session.

Workshops which are skill-based, hands-on sessions featuring application of ideas.


Social Program

Welcome Reception for Keynote speakers (by invitation)
All conference participants are invited to the Opening Ceremony and Reception at Nanyang Auditorium, Nanyang Technological University.
Sarong Party on the Beach". Kick off your conference shoes, and put on your beach sandals and join us as we head down to the beach for our conference dinner party! The Conference dinner on 1 June will be held at the only beach-side hotel in Singapore, the Rasa Sentosa Hotel on Sentosa Island. To be held at an idyllic spot on a sandy beach, this dinner promises to be an ideal time for conversation and sharing under the stars. The cost would be $75 nett which includes a free-flow of soft drinks to accompany a scrumptuous seafood barbeque. Come casual, dressed for a tropical night out at the beach. (admission by ticket)
A tour desk at the conference venue will assist in organising local tours upon request.
