Wireless Access

There are two types of wireless access at NTU and NIE: guest account or eduroam. The list of participating institutions of eduroam network: https://www.singaren.net.sg/ed_international

Option A: guest account

For NTU, select NTUWL Wi-Fi network
SMS “Register” to 9372 2830 to request for a one-day account
Your Wi-Fi login credentials are
Username: <mobile no.>
Password: <will be sent to your phone>

For NIE, select nieguest Wi-Fi network
Enter your Wi-Fi login credentials as provided via email

Option B: eduroam

Select eduroam Wi-Fi network
When prompted, enter the following:

  • For "EAP Method"= PEAP
  • For "Authentication" = WPA-2 Enterprise (for NTU) / MSCHAPV2 (for NIE)

Wi-Fi login credentials:

Username: Guest - username@domainname e.g. davidwalker@polyu.edu.uk
NIE Staff - username@niestaff.cluster.nie.edu.sg
Password: password at your institution


Configure Wi-Fi for your device

Select guest account or eduroam.

Android mobile device

Turn on your device’s Wi-Fi Select nieguest Wi-Fi network Enter your credentials for Wi-Fi connection

  • Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
  • Identity: Enter your Username
  • Password: Enter your Password
iOS mobile device

Turn on your device’s Wi-Fi Select nieguest Wi-Fi network Enter your credentials for Wi-Fi connection (click Accept to verify *.nie.edu.sg certificate)

Mac laptop

Turn Airport On Select nieguest Wi-Fi network Enter your credentials for Wi-Fi connection.

Windows laptop
  • Turn on your laptop’s Wi-Fi Go to Control Panel Network and Sharing Center Manage Wireless network and click Add Click Manually create a network profile

    Note: For Win 8 and above, Go to Search Apps Control Panel Network and Sharing Center View network status and tasks Set up a new connection or network Manually connect to a wireless network

  • Supply the information below and then click Next button:

    • Network name: nieguest
    • Security type: WPA2-Enterprise
    • Security type: AES
    • Start this connection automatically: Check
    • Connect even if the network is not broadcasting: Check
  • Successfully added nieguest message pop-up. Click Change connection settings

    • Click on Security tab
    • Check Remember my credentials for this connection each time I’m logged on
    • Click Settings button
    • Uncheck Validate server certificate
    • Click Configure button
    • Uncheck Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any)
    • Click OK to accept all the settings
  • Connect to nieguest Wi-Fi network and enter your credentials.
