Transportation Options

In Singapore, taking the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) is one of the most efficient ways to get around. The bus services available in Singapore complement the rail system to bring commuters closer to their destinations.

How to get to NIE/NTU:
  • The nearest train station to NIE/NTU is Boon Lay Station, and you may view the Train System Map here.
  • Buses Number 179, Number 179A and Number 199 shuttle between NIE/NTU and Boon Lay bus interchange (which is near Boon Lay Station.)

  • Singapore uses a stored value card known to make payments for your commute.
  • Tap your ez-link card on the reader when you board the bus and tap it again when you alight. The card reader will show the cost of the journey and the amount left in your card.
  • Visitors to Singapore can use the Singapore Tourist Pass, which offers all-day unlimited travel on MRT and LRT trains, and basic bus services.

  • Motor cycle parking lots are available in Car Park 1, Car Park 2 (between Blocks 2 and 3), Car Park 3 (opposite Bin Centre at Block 4), Car Park 4, Car Park 5 (beside Block 5) and Car Park 7.

    There are no charges for motor cycle parking. Motor cycle should enter and exit the car park by the side of the car parks barriers.

  • Bicycle stands are located in the following buildings: Block 2 (level B1), Block 3 (levels B1 and B3), Block 5 (levels B3 and B4), Block 7 (levels B1 and B3) and Block 7A (level B4).

    The paying car parks are operating on an Electronic Parking System (EPS). Cash card top-up machines can be found at the following locations:

    • NIE Block 2, Basement 1, Lift ED1 lobby
    • NIE Block 3, Basement 3, Lift AR1 lobby
    • NIE Block 5, Basement 4, near staircase facing Car Park 5
    • NIE Block 7, Basement 3, Lift SC4 lobby
    • There are parking lots available for the physically challenged in car parks 2, 3 and 7.
